From the Vicarage - February will be upon us by the time you read this but already the daffodils and crocus are appearing in the garden. Nature really is wonderful, this morning was our first real frost and as I drove to Dover the frost patterns on the bushes and trees were a sight to behold. Granted I was sitting in the warmth and comfort of the car but I did see one intrepid runner in shorts! The boys and I have had some lovely walks in the Warren and we have met up with another Bischon called ‘Bobby’. It’s great fun to see the two little white dogs playing together, they are very much into wrestling, standing up face to face until one or the other topples over. It never fails to surprise me just how accepting dogs are of each other, we rarely meet antisocial dogs and both Rolo and Bob are always keen to make friends. It would be nice if we could be as accepting of others but that openness seems to desert us as we grow up. It is there when we are young, I remember shortly after we were married and had moved into our first home there was a knock at the door. The little boy from the flat next door stood there, ‘I’s Robert. Can your boy come out to play?’ he asked, pointing to my husband. The Church Wardens are preparing for my departure as they will be responsible for the church buildings and for the maintenance of the services in each church. They will call upon other clergy and our Authorised Lay Ministers, Theda Mulloy, Helen Scopes and Keith Hughes will play their part. The Church Hall in Capel has been revamped and is looking very trim and the solar panels in Alkham are generating cash regularly, and in Church Hougham we shall have the Quilt Festival in September. There’s a great deal happening this year. Sue White
